Experiments were conducted on pigs aged 5–6 months. Types of nervous system were established by examining the rate of formation of conditioned reflexes, inhibition of differentiation, processing of signal value of stimuli and responses of animals to unexpected auditory stimuli. According to experimental results were formed 4 groups of animals, 5 pigs in each: I group strong balanced active, II strong balanced inert, III strong unbalanced, IV weak type of higher nervous activity. Blood for studies in pigs were taken in the morning on an empty stomach from jugular vein. The contentof glucose in serum was determined by glucose oxidase method, lactate by Bukhner method, pyruvate by modified Umbrayt method. The data were processed in the Microsoft Excel.

A blood serum lactate and pyruvate level depends on the type of higher nervous activity in pigs. The highest content of lactate was marked in animals of weak type, and the lowest strong balanced active type of higher nervous activity. On the content of lactate may have an impact the strength and mobility of cortical processes. Pigs of strong balanced active type are characterized by the highest level of pyruvate in blood serum, and the lowest representatives of the weak type, which may indicate a predominant influence on the level of this metabolite the strength of excitation and inhibition in cerebral cortex. Tendency to a higher level of glucose in pig’s weak type compared with other animals, and the lowest in the strong balanced active type of nervous system noted.
